This track was inspired by "Viderunt Omnes" by the composer Perotin from circa the 13th Century. It's meant to show the timeless quality of life using vocal harmonies called "organum" in the context of our modern day sped-up lives.
lyrics
You fall into bed exhausted
I wonder what drives you on
When I ask you, you answer to wearily that you think
Everything takes too long
But I tell you to take it easy
Tomorrow has never been late
You don’t have to hurry to get there
I worry about you when you’re in this state
But you say the clock is always running
And even the future will soon be past
There’s no time to lose, no time to wait--
Why is it always so late?
Why is it always
Why is it always
Why is it always so late?
Now you’re lying asleep beside me
As I review the events of my day
Remembering all of the things that I should have done
Or could have done differently
But I can’t change a thing ‘til morning
Which should be arriving soon
How I long to escape into dreams but I’m
Fully awake in this darkened room
You know they say the clock is always running
And even the future will soon be past
There’s no time to lose, no time to wait--
Why is it always so late?
Why is it always
Why is it always
Why is it always so late...?
